Project Overview
The Holistic Rural Development Program (HRDP) is a comprehensive rural development initiative designed to strengthen sustainable livelihoods, climate-resilient agriculture, healthcare, education, renewable energy, and natural resource management in remote Himalayan communities of Uttarakhand.
The project focuses on integrated and community-driven development through interventions such as orchard development, irrigation infrastructure, school and ICDS upgradation, solar electrification, healthcare strengthening, and livelihood enhancement through farm mechanization and Farmer Interest Groups (FIGs).
The initiative is being implemented with active participation from village communities, Gram Panchayats, FIG members, women groups, teachers, ICDS workers, and local stakeholders to ensure long-term sustainability, ownership, and inclusive growth.

Project Objective
- To improve the socio-economic condition of rural Himalayan communities through sustainable and inclusive development interventions.
- To promote climate-resilient agriculture and enhance farmers’ income through orchard development, farm mechanization, irrigation support, and adoption of improved agricultural practices.
- To strengthen natural resource management systems for sustainable utilization and conservation of water, soil, forests, and local biodiversity.
- To enhance livelihood opportunities for rural households through community-based enterprises, Farmer Interest Groups (FIGs), and skill development initiatives.
- To improve access to quality education by upgrading schools, ICDS centers, and learning infrastructure in remote villages.
- To strengthen rural healthcare services, hygiene awareness, and access to essential health facilities for vulnerable communities.
- To promote renewable energy solutions such as solar electrification for improving energy access and reducing dependence on conventional energy sources.
- To build community capacity and encourage participatory governance through active involvement of Gram Panchayats, women groups, youth, teachers, ICDS workers, and local institutions.
- To increase resilience of rural communities against climate change and environmental challenges through sustainable infrastructure and adaptive development practices.
- To ensure long-term sustainability, community ownership, and inclusive growth through integrated planning, local participation, and convergence with government schemes.

Key Achievements
- 01 Smart School infrastructure upgraded at Government Higher Secondary School, Farkande-Talli
- 01 ICDS Centre at Sarkot strengthened with smart learning and sanitation facilities
- 01 Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AAM Centre), Rohira upgraded with essential medical equipment
- 3 Apple Orchard Clusters and 3 Walnut Orchard Clusters established
- 1050 apple saplings and 750 walnut saplings distributed
- 244 solar street lights installed across 20 villages
- 5 LDPE-lined water storage ponds constructed
- 2 Community-Owned Farm Machinery Banks established
